ARE YOU STILL THERE?

Don’t Disappear on Your Clients

You’ve made a great effort and taken a lot of time to get to know someone and build a relationship with them.  They like you, feel that they can trust you. Finally, the words you have been waiting to hear, “Yes, I want to use your product or service and I want it now”.  They sign up with you and what happens next?….

There are generally three types of people.  Which one are you?  The thrill seeker, the love ‘em and leave them type, or do you just not know how to keep the “romance” alive?

The thrill seeker is all about conquest.  They love to make us feel like we are the only ones that matter in the whole world.  Once we say yes, poof, they’re gone.

The love ‘em and leave ‘em type sticks around for a while after we say yes, then gets bored and moves on to someone else.  They don’t want us to think they are going to abandon us and yet that is exactly what they do even though it may not be what they intended.  But we all know what good intentions get us.

Then there are the ones that really do care but don’t realize that the same effort and time they took building the relationship in the first place must continue after we say yes.  This is the type that tends to run out of steam and the only way they can get a “pick me up” is to seek new clients.  And the pattern continues.  Most people fall into this category.

It is so important to go inward and discover one’s own true value because it is only then that we can truly value and sustain the energy it takes to maintain and nurture the relationships we build with our clients.

I’ve said this many times and we all know it’s true.  We can do business with anyone that offers the same service or product but it always comes down to WHO is providing that service/product.  I don’t know about you, but I will only do business with someone I like and trust.  It is like a marriage that needs care and attention.  If the relationship doesn’t get those things then the client will get their needs met someplace else.  Then we are on that treadmill repeating the same behavior patterns over and over again.

Another thing I always say – Every business is a people business…and we all want to be treated as though we matter.  The competition is steep so what are you going to do to get the edge?  There is good customer service and there is even great customer service.  However, these days it takes extraordinary customer service to get attention and best of all loyalty and referrals.

Don’t do a disappearing act on your clients now that they want to do business with you. Give them what they want….Your attention.

~And remember….YOU MATTER~
